The eternal destiny of the soul is the priority in the care of the total person.

Suffering is no longer a mystery, since Our Divine Saviour redeemed the world by His suffering and death on the Cross.

The merits of suffering are salvific, expiatory, reparatory, redemptive and sanctifying.  The Cross of Christ points to happiness through suffering.

Prayer is central and primary in importance in our communion with God and one another.

To be graced with the privilege of caregiving carries with it great responsibility.  Faithful discharge of this trust will bring glorious reward.  Most weighty will be the judgement for fault or failure.  (+ J. McGuigan, Archbishop of Toronto, 1941)
